Dear CEF Member Archive,
Just to advise Green Drinks is re-starting on August 8th with a new venue, Tom Barry's in Barrack Street, hope to see you there. Also another reminder about Charles Einstein & Mark Boyle's talk on Monday next and not forgetting the colourful, stimulating and unexpected Cork Cycling Festival starts this Saturday with more than a week of great events.
IWT are looking for a beach to clean-up. There are links and information in relation to the Aarhus Convention, the EPAs review of the Irish Envrionment, details of UCC's new Degree in Horticulture, based in a lovely part of West Cork and the National Journey Planner so lots to explore.

Charles Eisenstein is author of the inspiring works The Ascent of Humanity and, most recently, Sacred Economics and Mark Boyle is author of The Moneyless Man: A Year of Freeconomic Living, who famously lived without money for over two years.
Don’t forget Cork Cycling Festival starts this Saturday with a week long schedule of great events until Sunday 29th. There’s something for everyone, check details here.

If you have an interest in the environment or are just curious, this is an informal opportunity to discuss issues with like-minded people and socialise with friends old and new. All welcome.
Irish Wildlife Trust
The Cork Branch of IWT would like to highlight Fish Month, 20th July – 27th August, with a beach clean-up and some information. Do you know of any beach in need of cleaning which might benefit from such an event, if so, let us know and we will pass it on to IWT or contact Jill Weyman directly at corkbranch@gmail.com.
Aarhus Convention
The long awaited ratification by Ireland of the Aarhus Convention finally took place in June this year. The Aarhus Convention recognises every person’s right to a healthy environment – as well as the duty to protect it. It is a legally binding instrument which promotes access to information, puboic participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters. Ireland’s Environment, An Assessment 2012
This important publication by the EPA is well worth a read as it gives an up to date assessment of the critical challenges and priorities in respect of our environment. It is available to download from their website at the following link.
New UCC Masters Degree in Organic Horticulture
The aim of this programme is to provide students with both the scientific principles and the practical applications of organic horticulture, the growing of vegetable, fruit, herb and flower crops in a sustainable environmentally protective manner. More details here.
National Journey Planner
The National Transport Authority’s new National Journey Planner has gone live. The service helps people plan personal journeys, door-to-door, anywhere in Ireland, using public transport and / or walking. There is also an App available for Android now, with the iPhone App coming very soon. See here for details.
