Notices for May, opportunity to input to the Cork City Development plan and gear up for National Bike Week with Cork celebrating the National launch event for 2013.

Composting Demonstration Sunday 12th May
May is composting month and events are supported by Cork County Council throughout the county. Eilish Munday, GAP Facilitator, will facilitate a composting session at Bandon Garden Centre on Sunday 12th May. Cork County Council are sponsoring the raffle prize, a new style tumbler composter and there will also be FREE facepainting. D.J. Murphy will be providing some special discounts on the day and there may also be a talk by a celebratory gardener.

Eco-Product Stand at Bandon Show Sunday 19th May

CEF and Global Action Plan members will have an EcoProduct Stand at the Bandon Show on Sunday 19th May 2013.The stand will feature products from insulation materals, to chimney balloons, wind up torches and coconut shell pan cleaners – all products are available at local stores in Bandon from Bandon Co-op, Kellehers, An Tobairin and the Wild Side. There is also a childrens art competition to make a farm animal from recycled materials. Bring your Animal to The Cork Environmental Forum Stall at the 2013 Bandon Agricultural Show on Sunday 19th May & be in with a chance to Win some Great Prizes.

Free raffle for a tumbler composter – sponsored by Carbery Plastics & Free facepainting always popular with children of all ages will be available at the stand. So come along and enjoy one of the first agricultural shows of the year.


Biodiversity Day 22nd May
Two National Schools will join environmental educators Jessica Mason and Stephanie O'Toole for a day out in the woods. Trafask NS, Adrigole and Derrycreha NS, Glengarriff have been invited to come to the woods for a hands-on look at biodiversity and water in the local environment. The day will involve interactive games and activities looking at the water cycle, the vital importance of water in the environment and its relationship with biodiversity, as well as a river surveying and dipping field trip.

BIKE WEEK - NATIONAL LAUNCH EVENT 2013 TO BE HELD IN CORK

Mass cycle parade through the scenic streets of Cork on Sunday 16th June followed by some spectaculr entertainment at the Grand Parade.

Places on the cycle parade will be limited so please register by completing the form here.

There will be events and activities thoughout the week. There is also an opportunity to get involved directly through Operation Transportation, now in it's second year this is  chnce to get off the couch and reignite your relationship with cycling! Check it out on Facebook and take up the challenge to cycle just 10 mins a day and record your experiences.

Cork City Public Consultation on 15th May at 5.30pm at the Imperial Hotel
Cork City Council has commenced the review of the City Development Plan 2009-2015 and preparations of a new City Development Plan. 
Written submissions or observation are invited from interested parties during the period of 22nd April 2013 to 4pm, 17th June 2013.
